The King of the Swingers

Musician Louis Prima always put thought, heart, and a lot of fun into his concerts, inspiring acts by other performers for years following.  His on-stage banter with his wife would find its influence in acts starring Sonny and Cher and Bruce Springsteen.  His willingness to adapt kept Louis Prima and his band popular for decades.

His songs included many that are still popular in soundtracks, band performances, and classic venues, such as "Sing, Sing, Sing," "Jump, Jive An' Wail," "Buona Sera," and "Just a Gigolo," to name a few.  In 1967, Louis Prima provided the voice for Disney's swinging King Louie in The Jungle Book.

In this rare clip about the song, viewers are able to glimpse how much energy went into a performance, whether on stage or in a recording studio:  Click here.
